Media and Communications List Consultation

Mr Justice Warby seeks views of court users

Having taken charge of the new “Media and Communications List” within the Queen’s Bench Division of the High Court on 1 March 2017, Mr Justice Warby is now seeking the views of its users on a small number of procedural questions.

The consultation seeks the views of practitioners and other court users in the field. Questions asked deal with matters including whether users would like to see any changes to the Civil Procedure Rules and Practice Directions, the most important case management issue, the collection of statistics on injunctions restraining freedom of expression, and whether it would be helpful to hold a court user’s meeting and/or form a Court Users’ Committee.

Responses are sought by 31 May 2017 and should be sent, using the form provided, by email, using the subject line Media List Consultation, to Emma.Lownsborough@hmcts.gsi.gov.uk.

The intention is to publish the results of the consultation and consider whether any action is required in the light of the responses and any other relevant considerations.

If any changes to the Civil Procedure Rules or Practice Directions are proposed, it will be for the Civil Procedure Rule Committee to consider whether, and if so how, they are to be taken forward.

The consultation response form can be found here.
