Profile

* non-resident practising member

In his first 15 years of practice Gordon advised and represented clients in cases concerned with many different areas of law including commercial contracts, negligence, landlord and tenant and family law and he built up a considerable expertise in those fields.

Practice

In recent years Gordon has specialised mainly in media related work, in particular defamation, breach of confidence and intellectual property. He has appeared in many high-profile defamation cases acting both for and against many famous and infamous claimants. Since acting for Laurence Godfrey in his well-known claim for libel against Demon Internet he has developed a considerable interest and practice in the law relating to the internet. He has also continued to advise and represent clients in general commercial and common law cases, including banking disputes and claims for professional and medical negligence. He retains an interest and has expertise in a wide field of law.

Mediation

He became a CEDR accredited mediator in October 2003 and since then has acted as a mediator or assistant mediator in a wide range of disputes including claims for professional negligence, infringement of patents, breach of agency agreements, payment of architects’ fees and other contractual disputes including a multi-million pound one relating to a joint venture company one in China. He has become a confirmed believer in the great advantages that mediation has to those who find themselves involved in litigation and he encourages the use of it whenever possible to save parties money, time and unnecessary stress.
