Profile

Since joining Chambers in 2008, Yuli has been instructed by both claimants and defendants in a number of matters, including acting for Channel Four, Associated Newspapers and The Spectator in defamation claims.  In 2009 - 2010, she acted as Junior Counsel for Channel Four and production company, Studio Lambert, in a long-running defamation claim brought by Matthew Fiddes over a documentary about the famous Jackson family.  In June 2010, she appeared in the Court of Appeal led by Adrienne Page QC in an appeal which provided important guidance on the issue of mode of trial in libel actions.  In the past two years, she has appeared in the High Court in a number of successful strike-out and Norwich Pharmacal applications.

Yuli also acts in privacy cases.   She recently acted as Junior Counsel for the successful defendant, MGN Ltd, in a landmark privacy case brought by premiership footballer, Rio Ferdinand.  It is the first privacy case reaching trial in which a 'kiss n tell' has been held to be in the public interest.

She regularly provides pre-publication advice to The Times, The Sunday Times, The Observer and The Guardian and spent 8 months on secondment at Channel Four providing broadcasting legal and compliance advice.

Before pupillage, Yuli worked as a lawyer at Ofcom specialising in broadcasting contents and standards and breach of privacy cases.  She was involved in a number of high-profile inquiries including the Celebrity Big Brother race row adjudication and the “Quiz TV” investigations.  She also advised on political advertising, internet regulation and EU telecommunications and spectrum law.

Yuli has also worked as a legal advisor for the Hoxton Trust and has gained commercial litigation experience working on a complex, multi-million pound professional negligence claim at a leading London law firm.
