5RB came equal top in Defamation & Privacy, with the independent survey noting “‘Proactive rather than reactive,’ 5RB is ‘without a shadow of a doubt at the forefront of defamation law.’ It is ‘a front runner if you are looking for top-drawer people’ and offers barristers with a proven track record in the areas of defamation, confidence, privacy, IP and human rights law as it relates to freedom of expression.” 5RB was “constantly at work on the more arresting matters in the marketplace.”

For Media & Entertainment5RB was described as a “responsive and thorough set whose name is synonymous with media and entertainment disputes. 5RB’s barristers combine expertise in IP, defamation, privacy, sports and human rights”.

In Intellectual Property the survey noted the contributions of Madeleine Heal whilst in Sports Law, Mark Warby was said to be “particularly effective in the horseracing arena acting for The Jockey Club and the Horse Racing Regulatory arm of that body in particular. His ‘first-rate understanding of disciplinary rules within a non-statutory framework’ makes him a strong choice for this kind of work.”

In total, the annual review named twenty 5RB barristers (including all six QCs) as leaders in the areas of Defamation & Privacy, Media & Entertainment Law, Intellectual Property and/or Sports Law: more than any other Chambers in these fields. In Defamation & Privacy alone, 5RB had 4 of the 6 “Band 1” QCs and 3 of the 5 Band 1 Junior Barristers.
