Freedom of information update

5RB member to speak at CLT conference

With just over one month to go before the Freedom of Information Act 2000 comes into force on 1 January 2005, Jonathan Barnes of 5RB will outline the Act’s operation and how it might be used in litigation as an information gathering tool at the CLT conference Management Challenges for Local Authorities & Other Public Bodies being held in London on 26 November 2004.

Richard Thomas, the Information Commissioner, will use his keynote address to explain how his role will be affected by the new legislation.  Other speakers will address key concepts, relevant codes of practice, how to make a request for information under the Act and how public authorities should respond to them (including exemptions from compliance).
