Iain Christie returns to practice

fresh from Sabbatical

Iain Christie returns to 5RB today after taking a sabbatical to train as an actor at Drama Studio London. Iain intends to combine his practice at the bar with some professional acting work.

Iain practices in all areas of media law, in particular the relationship between the right of personal privacy and the right to freedom of expression. Prior to joining 5RB he was a legal adviser at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office and acted for the Government in a number of high profile cases before the European Court of Human Rights. He was a member of the Bill team that drafted the Human Rights Act 1998. He was most recently instructed as junior Counsel to the Crown in its successful defence of Max Mosley’s application against the United Kingdom regarding prior notification.
Iain is one of the original editors of The Law of Privacy and the Media the second edition of which was published in March 2011. Iain is also an experienced mediator with accreditation in civil and commercial, family and workplace disputes. He would welcome appointment as a mediator in media-related or any other dispute.
