New Copyright Regulations

Copyright (Application to Other Countries) Order 2005 comes into force

The Copyright Designs and Patents Act 1988 is extended to foreign authors and corporations and works published abroad by Order in Council made under s. 159.

From 1st May 2005, the previous Order (Copyright (Application to Other Countries) Order 1999 is repealed and replaced with Copyright and Performances (Application to Other Countries) Order 2005 SI 2005/852. It consolidates and updates the  those Orders now repealed.

The previous 6 Schedules have been replaced with a single Schedule in the form of a table which makes it much easier to see at a glance which countries receive reciprocal protection for which categories of works.

The Copyright (Application to the Isle of Man) Order 1992  is also repealed and the Isle of Man is now included in this single order in Council.
