Peacock settles libel action

MGN pays damages over Celebs on Sunday article

The model Matt Peacock has settled his libel case against the Sunday Mirror with the newspaper paying him damages and costs. The trial was due to take place in December.

In a unilateral statement read in court today his solicitor, Leo Dawkins, told the Court that MGN had published in Celebs on Sunday on 13 April 2008 that Mr Peacock had been violent towards his ex-wife in November 2007 and that that was the reason their relationship ended shortly afterwards. The court was told that ‘there was no truth in this allegation whatsoever’ and that MGN had agreed not to repeat the allegation and to pay Mr Peacock £15,000 in damages and his legal costs.
