Litigation can often be avoided, and time and expense spared, by ensuring that the proper legal checks have been taken prior to publication. 5RB recognises this and its barristers frequently advise newspapers, magazines and book publishers on libel, copyright, contempt, obscenity and contractual matters. Junior members of 5RB offer pre-publication advice on a regular basis to all the major newspapers, including The Times, The Observer, The Sunday Telegraph, The Independent and The Daily Mail; to magazines such as the BMJ and The Pink Paper; and book publishers such as HarperCollins and Penguin.
