Last week, 5RB hosted its 17th Annual Charity Quiz at the Crypt on the Green to raise funds for Advocate and the Free Representation Unit. This year, we were joined by 24 teams from various leading firms and media organisations.
Our congratulations to Addleshaw Goddard, assisted by David Hirst, who took home this year’s trophy, closely followed by Schillings and Pallas Partners. The FRU/Advocate took home the golden shredder.
Our special thanks to Adam Speker KC (5RB’s resident quizmaster and question-setter) and our marketing manager, Shana Garioch, for organising the event. A huge thanks to all of our clients and colleagues for contributing.
About our chosen charities:
We were proud to raise funds to support our chosen charities. We will reveal the total amount raised in the coming days.
Advocate is an independent charity which helps to match barristers prepared to undertake pro bono work with those who need their help. The Unit receives applications for assistance through advice agencies and solicitors and aims to help in cases where the applicant cannot afford to pay for the assistance sought or obtain public funding, has a meritorious case, and needs the help a barrister can provide.
FRU was founded in 1972 and is a registered charity. It provides legal advice, case preparation, and advocacy in tribunal cases for those who could not otherwise obtain legal support due to a lack of personal means or public funding. To provide this service, FRU trains volunteer law students and legal professionals early in their careers, equipping them with the skills needed to confidently and competently support the rights of others.
We look forward to next year!
