Publication of ‘The Times Law100 2009’
5RB’s Joint Head of Chambers, Desmond Browne QC, has been named in The Times newspaper’s list of ‘Britain’s most powerful lawyers’.
The choices of the newspaper’s judging panel span all types of legal work, from academia to the judiciary. Desmond is described in his capacity as Chairman of the Bar Council of England and Wales as ‘a doughty fighter for the cause of the barristers’ profession in the continuing dispute over legal aid fees’. He is also noted to be one of the most highly regarded media silks, having acted in many of the leading cases in the area, including Campbell v Mirror Group Newspapers, Hamilton v Fayed and, most recently, Metropolitan International Schools v Google Inc & Others.
Desmond remains available for advice and returns to full-time practice at 5RB in January 2010.
