5RB tops Chambers and Partners 2012

Adam Wolanski wins Defamation and Privacy Junior Barrister of the Year

Chambers & Partners have listed 5RB as the only set in Band 1 for defamation and privacy in their annual review of the bar. Many individual members have also been top ranked in the directory for 2012.

The review describes 5RB as “a cut above the rest”, which offers “across-the-board strength at all levels of call” with a clerking team described as “excellent, flexible and helpful individuals who are there to assist.” Chambers is said “to count amongst their number a good proportion of the real heavy hitters in the field. Internationally renowned, these individuals have a hand in the vast majority of the leading cases of the day and also contribute to the furtherance of the law in this area through their academic work.” According to one client, “the barristers here are that bit more user-friendly than elsewhere, and they are reachable at all hours, which is essential for media work.”
In addition, 5RB was recognised for its excellence in ‘Media & Entertainment’, while members were also recommended in the ‘Sport’ category.
Members of 5RB dominating the top rankings for both silks and juniors in Defamation & Privacy. Four silks (Desmond Browne QC, Adrienne Page QC, James Price QC and Mark Warby QC) and fifteen juniors (three in Band 1) were recommended, more than any other chambers.

Juniors rated in Band 1 for Defamation & Privacy were Alexandra Marzec, David Sherborne, and Matthew Nicklin, while Stephen Bate was rated Band 1 for Media & Entertainment (in which Christina Michalos was also individually rated). Other individuals to garner praise for their defamation and privacy work were Justin Rushbrooke, Jonathan Barnes, Godwin Busuttil, William Bennett, Jacob Dean, Anna Coppola, Adam Speker, Richard Munden, David Hirst, VIctoria Shore and Victoria Jolliffe.
