5RB tops Chambers & Partners review

Set and 21 barristers praised in Chambers UK 2010 Directory

5RB has once again been named as a leading set for Defamation & Privacy and Media & Entertainment Law in the annual Chambers & Partners review of the legal profession, with members of 5RB also recommended as ‘notable practitioners’ in Sports Law.

The directory ranked 5RB as joint top in Defamation & Privacy describing it as a “first-rate set” which “houses an impressive number of barristers with focused expertise in defamation and privacy” and “frequently goes beyond what one would expect from chambers generally.”

5RB was also ranked in the Media & Entertainment category, the directory observed that “this respected set further tackles a range of IP and copyright work in the film, TV and publishing arenas and is regularly instructed on licensing and domain name disputes”.

5RB had eighteen barristers ranked as leaders and one as “up and coming” in Defamation & Privacy, more than any other Chambers in this field. With four of the seven “Leading Silks” and three of the five” Leading Juniors”, 5RB dominated the “Band 1” rankings for this area.

The “wonderfully assiduous and devoted” Stephen Bate and Christina Michalos were ranked as leading juniors in Media & Entertainment, while in the field of Sports Law Mark Warby QC was described as “a reliable heavyweight for sports law matters” and Jacob Dean noted as being “valued by sports clients for his expertise”.
