Max Mosley privacy trial concludes

5RB's James Price QC and Mark Warby QC deliver closing speeches

The trial of the privacy action brought by FIA President Max Mosley concluded in the High Court today.

James Price QC, acting for Mr Mosley, who is bringing the claim against News Group Newspapers over The News of the World’s publication of a video and article in which it was alleged that Mr Mosley took part in a “Nazi-themed” orgy, said that there was no truth in the newspaper’s claim and that exemplary damages ought to be awarded against it.

Mark Warby QC, for the News of the World‘s publishers News Group, said that the activities at the centre of the case were “truly grotesque and depraved” and that the court should find that there has been no misuse of private information.

Mr Justice Eady said that he hoped to deliver judgment around the middle of next week.

5RB‘s James Price QC and David Sherborne (instructed by Steeles Law) are acting for Mr Mosley, while Mark Warby QC (instructed by Farrer & Co) is acting for News Group Newspapers.
