Grand Chamber to hear Delfi but not von Hannover (No.3)

The European Court of Human Rights Grand Chamber Panel has decided to refer the case of Delfi v Estonia to the Grand Chamber. The applicant appeals against the court’s decision that Estonia was not in breach of Article 10 in holding Delfi AS liable for defamatory user-generated comments on its website.

The Panel however rejected a request by Princess Caroline of Monaco to refer the decision in von Hannover v Germany (No.3), in which the court found published photographs not to be a breach of the applicant’s Article 8 rights, to the Grand Chamber.

The Panel’s press release can be found here.
