Slander Action Settles

Former Parish Councillor apologises

In a statement in open court read today, David Harvey, the former Chairman of the Rowlands Castle Parish Council apologised for comments he made about Alan Craggs, the former Chairman of the Rowlands Parish Hall Management Committee.

Mr Harvey made the comments, understood to be allegations of sexual harassment, at a public meeting in April 2011.

Mr Craggs sued for slander and the trial was due to take place in October 2014.

Mr Harvey today accepted that such allegations were untrue and apologised to Mr Craggs. He gave an undertaking not to repeat the allegations and paid substantial damages and costs.

5RB‘s Adam Speker was instructed by Simon Burn Solicitors on behalf of Mr Craggs.
