5RB Annual Quiz 2020

5RB hosted its 13th annual charity quiz last night, virtually, to raise funds for Advocate and the Free Representation Unit (FRU).

Teams from many leading solicitors firms and media organisations competed over five rounds of questions, with the quiz compered once again by 5RB‘s Adam Speker QC5RB would like to thank all who attended virtually. We look forward to the day when we can meet you back in the pub!

This year’s quiz was shortened to 5 rounds: Current events, Lockdown entertainment, Music, Media and Pot Luck. As ever, the Zoom breakout rooms posed a challenge with 85 attendees! The money raised will be matched by 5RB and shared with Advocate and FRU.

The top five teams were 5RB, The Guardian (98), Brett Wilson (97), Hiscox (96) and Carter Ruck (95). The golden shredder went to the team from the Free Representation Unit.

Advocate is an independent charity which helps to match barristers prepared to undertake pro bono work with those who need their help. The Unit receives applications for assistance through advice agencies and solicitors and aims to help in cases where the applicant cannot afford to pay for the assistance sought or obtain public funding, has a meritorious case, and needs the help a barrister can provide.

FRU was founded in 1972 and is a registered charity. It provides legal advice, case preparation and advocacy in tribunal cases for those who could not otherwise obtain legal support, for want of personal means or public funding. To provide this service, FRU trains volunteer law students and legal professionals in the early stages of their careers in the skills required to give confident and competent support for the rights of others.
