5RB Charity Quiz Night

Fun and fundraising

5RB hosted its 15th annual charity quiz last night to raise funds for Advocate and the Free Representation Unit (FRU).

Teams from 25 firms and media organisations gathered to compete over six rounds of questions, with the quiz compered once again by 5RB’s Adam Speker KC in his infamous gold jacket.

The top three teams were the Guardian, Simkins, and RPC ‘2’, who were all rewarded for their fine quizzing efforts with champagne. This year it was the team from Withers who went home with the ‘golden shredder.’

The evening’s sold-out event raised around £3,000 for Advocate and FRU. 5RB would like to thank everybody who attended.

Advocate is an independent charity which helps to match barristers prepared to undertake pro bono work with those who need their help. The Unit receives applications for assistance through advice agencies and solicitors and aims to help in cases where the applicant cannot afford to pay for the assistance sought or obtain public funding, has a meritorious case, and needs the help a barrister can provide.

Fru was founded in 1972 and is a registered charity. It provides legal advice, case preparation and advocacy in tribunal cases for those who could not otherwise obtain legal support, for want of personal means or public funding. To provide this service, FRU trains volunteer law students and legal professionals in the early stages of their careers in the skills required to give confident and competent support for the rights of others.
