Chambers: 5RB is the ‘gold standard’

Set and 21 barristers praised in Chambers & Partners 2009 Directory

5RB has been named as a leading set for Defamation & Privacy and Media & Entertainment Law in the annual Chambers & Partners review of the legal profession.

The directory ranked 5RB as joint top in Defamation & Privacy describing it as the “gold standard for media-related work” and “a set that furnishes “disciplined professionals who give extraordinarily thorough, speedy and practical advice“. Noting that 5RB is involved in some of the “most appealing and intricate cases in the field“, including the recent Frank Warren v Random House litigation, the set was praised for its “many talented barristers”.

5RB was also ranked in the Media & Entertainment category, with the independent survey noting that in addition to its defamation work the “proactive, forward-thinking set also boast considerable experience in IP, copyright, trade mark and sports law.”

5RB had eighteen barristers ranked as leaders and one as “up and coming” in Defamation & Privacy, more than any other Chambers in this field. With four of the eight “Leading Silks” and four of the six “Leading Juniors”, 5RB dominated the “Band 1” rankings for this area. Mark Warby QC was also ranked as a leading silk in the field of Sports Law, while Stephen Bate and Christina Michalos were ranked as leading juniors in Media & Entertainment.
