5RB warmly congratulates Greg Callus on being named Media, Privacy and Information Law ‘Junior of the Year’ at the Chambers UK Bar Awards 2023.
Greg’s 2023 was busy and varied. It began with him defending a criminal contempt in the Divisional Court and ended with him acting for Laurence Fox in an eight-day libel trial. During the year, he appeared three times in the Court of Appeal (twice unled); in two election law matters in the High Court; discharged a pair of super-injunctions in the Commercial Court; appeared in the Employment Tribunal on a Rule 50 RRO application remitted by the Court of Appeal, and also made the first CPR Part 11 jurisdictional challenge based on s.10 Defamation Act 2013. His pro bono work included Freedom of Information cases (on the national security exemptions) in the First Tier and Upper Tribunals, and a judicial review of the Lord Chancellor in the Administrative Court.
