New edition of Arlidge, Eady & Smith on Contempt; new Supplements to Gatley and The Law of Privacy & The Media

5RB is pleased to announce the publication of a new edition of Arlidge, Eady and Smith on Contempt and a Supplement to the most recent edition of Gatley on Libel and Slander. A new cumulative Supplement to The Law of Privacy and the Media will follow in the New Year.

Arlidge, Eady and Smith on Contempt is the leading authority on the law relating to civil and criminal contempt. It provides a detailed, comprehensive and authoritative discussion of the principles and procedures that make up the law in this area. This is the 3rd edition of the work. Since the 2nd edition was published in 1999, the law has evolved considerably.

The new edition brings the reader up to date with all the major developments in case law and legislation, providing a one-stop source of current and practical analysis.  5RB‘s Professor Tony Smith is joint author of the book with the Hon. Mr Justice Eady.  Contempt is published by and available from Sweet & Maxwell, priced at £265.

Gatley on Libel and Slander is the leading textbook in this specialist field.  The 10th edition of the work was published in 2004. The new, First Supplement, states the law as at July 2005.  5RB‘s Patrick Milmo QC is a Joint Editor of the book, Richard Parkes QC and Godwin Busuttil are among the Contributing Editors, and Adam Speker is the Precedents Editor. The Supplement to Gatley is also available from Sweet & Maxwell, priced at £49.

The Second Cumulative Supplement to 5RB‘s book The Law of Privacy and the Media, to which most members of chambers have contributed together with Mr Justice Tugendhat, will be published by Oxford University Press in January 2006. The Supplement to this well-received specialist work will state the law as at August 2005. Copies can be pre-ordered now via OUP‘s website, priced at £55.
