Sebastian Coe fails in injunction bid

Court refuses privacy application

Patrick Milmo QC acted on behalf of Lord (Sebastian) Coe seeking an injunction to stop the Sunday Mirror and Mail on Sunday from disclosing information about his affair with Vanessa Lander and an abortion she had. Ms Lander wanted to discuss the affair in the press.

Mr Justice Fulford found that since Lord Coe was a public figure, some of the details were in the public domain, that he had had an affair and there were competing interests of three parties (Lord Coe, Ms Lander and the press) there was no real prospect of success that any injunction granted would become permanent.
