Hector joined 5RB as a tenant in October 2024, having completed his pupillage under the supervision of Jacob Dean, Richard Munden, Greg Callus and Felicity McMahon. During pupillage, he experienced the range of chambers’ work, including libel (defendant and claimant), privacy, harassment, data protection, freedom of information and reporting restrictions.
Cases with which Hector assisted during pupillage included:
- Mueen-Uddin v Secretary of State for the Home Department [2024] UKSC 21 (assisting Jacob Dean for the claimant)
- Miller and Power v Turner [2023] EWHC 2799 (KB) (assisting Jonathan Scherbel-Ball for the defendant)
- Pacini & Anor v Dow Jones & Co Inc [2024] EWHC 1709 (KB) (assisting Ben Gallop for the defendant)
Before pupillage, Hector was a solicitor, training and then practising for two years in the corporate/M&A field at a city firm, then for a year in a specialist media law firm.
Hector studied classics at Oxford University for his undergraduate degree, graduating with a first. He passed the GDL and LPC with distinction and later took a LLM at the LSE, obtaining a distinction and coming top in his year.
