5RB congratulates Aidan Eardley on his appointment as Queen’s Counsel

5RB is delighted that Aidan is included in the announcement of new QCs for 2022

Aidan joined 5RB from 1 Brick Court in 2019 and has a broad practice encompassing all aspects of media and information law.

Aidan recently acted for the Attorney General in committal proceedings before the Supreme Court concerning the publication of an embargoed judgment in Attorney General v Crosland. He also acted as junior counsel for the BBC throughout the high-profile privacy claim of Sir Cliff Richard, OBE v BBC & Chief Constable of South Yorkshire Police.

This year Legal 500 said “Aidan is extremely clever, conscientious and responsive. He always exudes a calm approach and is a highly effective advocate who judges clearly trust“.

Aidan was a member of the Attorney General’s ‘A’ Panel of counsel from 2016 to 2021 and is co-author of Duncan & Neill on Defamation.

Desmond Browne CBE QC adds, “5RB is delighted, but not in the least surprised, at Aidan’s success in the latest competition for silk. No one in chambers, neither colleagues nor staff, has any doubt that he will be as successful in silk as he was as a junior.”

The new Queen’s Counsel announced today will formally become silks on 21 March 2022.
