Victoria practises in the areas of defamation, confidence, privacy, data protection, harassment, other media related work and the general common law, and acts for both claimant and defendants.
Most recently Victoria acted as junior counsel for multiple hedge fund companies resisting an application for disclosure of confidential information related to high profile divorce proceedings. Last year she assisted in the defence of the libel and slander action brought by Peter Andre against his former wife, Katie Price and acted for a member of the Kuwaiti Royal family.
Victoria has acted as sole counsel in multiple libel, slander and privacy actions and is currently representing a Korean newspaper publisher in defamation proceedings within this jurisdiction. In the past twelve months she has successfully struck out a number of libel actions on behalf of her clients and has facilitated settlements between private individuals, the Daily Mail and other media organisations.
She was second junior for the claimant in the High Court privacy action brought by Max Mosley against the News of the World and also acted on behalf of a private hospital in defence of a breach of confidence claim brought by a high profile sportsperson.
Victoria is public access accredited and can be instructed directly by members of the public and companies in suitable cases.
Victoria regularly provides pre-publication advice to newspapers, publishers and magazines, including guidance on gaming law and data protection matters. In 2007 she spent 6 months on secondment to Channel 4 where she gained considerable experience in providing legal and OFCOM compliance advice.
After completing her law degree Victoria worked as a legal researcher at the British Institute of International and Comparative law in the field of data protection. She also undertook a legal traineeship at the European Commission working on the EU-US negotiations with regard to the privacy rights of US-bound airline passengers. Immediately prior to commencing pupillage at 5RB, Victoria worked for a year as a paralegal at Walt Disney, providing legal assistance and research on intellectual property and data protection matters.
