For the second time in four years, 5RB last night was named ‘Defamation and Privacy Set of the Year’ at a ceremony at London’s Dorchester Hotel.
The award panel said of 5RB: “5RB is able to call upon silks and juniors whose ‘calibre is both extraordinary and unquestionable.’ It offers individuals of unsurpassed experience whose work ethic is well documented. Whether one needs expertise in defamation, confidence, privacy, IP or human rights law as it relates to freedom of expression, 5RB provides it in abundance.”
Two 5RB barristers were nominated for awards in the ‘Privacy and Defamation’ category.
Joint head of Chambers Desmond Browne QC was nominated as ‘Silk of the Year’. The panel commented that he has “inexhaustible stamina and a formidable presence that never fails to impress even the most difficult clients or judges”.
Adam Wolanski was nominated as Junior of the Year. In nominating him, the panel said “making a very big name for himself at the very highest level, Adam Wolanski’s position at the top of his field is solidified by his “excellent pleadings, unflappable coolness under fire, finely wrought judgement and sheer niceness”.
