5RB were proud to sponsor the Gala Dinner to Celebrate a Centenary of Women in the Law held at Middle Temple on 16 January 2020. The dinner was held to celebrate 100 years since Helena Normanton became the first woman to dine at an Inn of Court (Middle Temple), on her way to being one of the first women to be called to the Bar. She went on to be the first woman to obtain a divorce for a client, the first woman to conduct a trial in America, the first woman to appear in cases in the High Court and the Old Bailey, and in 1949 she became one of the first two women to take silk.
A number of members of 5RB attended the event together with guests, and 5RB would like to thank Middle Temple for an enjoyable evening.
The event forms part of 5RB’s celebration of 100 years of women at the Bar.
