Today the High Court will hear argument in a trial of preliminary issues in a libel claim brought by Andrew Bridgen MP against Matt Hancock MP.
Mr Bridgen’s claim is brought in respect of a Tweet by Mr Hancock published in January 2023. The Court will determine the natural and ordinary meaning of the statement complained of in the Tweet, and whether it was a statement of fact or opinion.
