Baby P social worker receives apologies

Sylvia Henry, who is employed by Haringey Social Services, today received apologies from the Independent, the Evening Standard and the Daily Mirror newspapers in statements in open court .

The newspapers published allegations towards the end of 2008 concerning Ms Henry’s involvement in the case of Peter Connolly, who was widely known as Baby P.  They alleged that she was implicated in Haringey’s negligent handling of the case.  However, they have now accepted that she was not so involved and, in fact, attempted to prevent him from being returned to his family, in whose care he later died.

These statements follow an earlier settlement in Ms Henry’s favour from Haringey, which had made similar allegations against her.

5RB’s Adrienne Page QC and William Bennett (instructed by Taylor Hampton) acted for Sylvia Henry.
