5RB welcomes Ben Hamer as a new member of Chambers after a successful pupillage.
During his pupillage Ben was supervised by Adam Wolanski, Jonathan Barnes, Richard Munden and Adam Speker. He worked on numerous cases including NT1/NT2 v Google (the first ‘right to be forgotten’ trial); Monir v Wood (UKIP Twitter libel trial); Zarb-Cousin v ABB (defamatory television broadcast); and Reid v Price (interim injunction in privacy and confidence).
Prior to joining Chambers, Ben studied at the University of Durham (obtaining a First Class degree) and the University of Oxford, before completing the GDL (with Distinction) and the Bar course at the University of Law, Bloomsbury (Outstanding). He was a major scholar of Lincoln’s Inn and called to the Bar there in November 2017, during which year he was presented with the Benjamin Franklin House Literary Prize, run in conjunction with The Telegraph, for his writing on free speech, social media and ‘fake news’.
