On 27 and 28 October 2015 the Court of Appeal heard an appeal by Associated Newspapers Limited, the publisher of the MailOnline website, against the judgment of Mr Justice Dingemans dated 16 April 2014, in which he found that the publisher had misused Paul Weller’s children’s private information and breached the Data Protection Act by publishing images of them on a family day out with their father. Associated also appealed against Dingemans J’s decision of 12 June 2014 awarding the children an injunction to prevent further publication of the relevant images.
The Court of Appeal consisted of Lord Dyson MR, Tomlinson LJ and Bean LJ. 5RB‘s David Sherborne and Julian Santos, instructed by Clintons, acted for the Respondents.
