Douglas v Hello!

The damages judgment in Douglas v Hello! has been handed down.

The new ruling follows Lindsay J’s judgment in April on liability in which the Court held that held that Michael Douglas, Catherine Zeta-Jones and OK! had all won their case against Hello! The Judge had held that Hello! was liable in damages to Michael Douglas, Catherine Zeta-Jones and OK! under the law of confidence, as well as data protection. Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones were entitled to an injunction to prevent any further publication of the unauthorised photographs.

In the damages hearing David Sherborne acted for the Claimants instructed by Theodore Goddard. James Price QC acted for the Defendants instructed by Charles Russell.
