Christina questioned how far the law governing a right to a private life had developed in the four and a half years since the start of the Douglas v Hello! litigation in November 2000. She concluded that there still remained a considerable degree of uncertainty which was regrettable considering the numerous opportunities open to the courts in that time to address the problem posed to the common law.
Over 100 TIPLO members attended the dinner and there was a lively discussion after her speech, which was very well received. There were many interesting contributions from the floor including those of Lord Justice Jacob, Professor John Adams and James Price QC.
