The former director of the Beatles’ Apple Electronics, Alex Mardas, has had his libel claims against the New York Times and the International Herald Tribune reinstated.
Mr Mardas, dubbed ‘Magic Alex’ by John Lennon, is bringing the claims in respect of articles concerning events which occurred during a visit by the Beatles to the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi 40 years ago.
The claims were struck out by Master Leslie as an abuse of process in June 2008, but in a judgment handed down on Wednesday, Mr Justice Eady held that the Master had erred in law.
