Experience

Andrew Love joined 5RB as a Junior Clerk in 1995 and has dedicated his entire career to Chambers. Over more than three decades, he has progressed through the clerking ranks, before being appointed Senior Clerk in 2016.

Today, Andrew leads one of the most highly regarded clerking teams at the Bar and is responsible for overseeing Chambers’ clerking, operational and business functions. Having spent over 30 years at 5RB, he possesses an unrivalled understanding of Chambers, its members and its specialist practice areas. Throughout his career, he has played a central role in the growth and development of Chambers, helping to build and maintain the reputation for excellence and client service for which 5RB is recognised.

Andrew has also contributed to professional and industry discussions on topics including leadership and wellbeing. His contributions include reflections on men’s mental health, his personal experience of giving up alcohol, and the challenges and opportunities facing clerks in an evolving professional landscape.

Andrew was shortlisted for the ‘Legal 500 Senior Clerk of the Year’ Award in both 2025 and 2026, reflecting the high regard in which he is held by clients, colleagues and members of the profession.

Responsibilities

As Senior Clerk, Andrew has overall responsibility for the management of Chambers’ clerking and business operations. He works closely with members of Chambers to develop and manage their practices, while maintaining strong relationships with solicitors, insurers, in-house legal teams and other professional clients.

Andrew is responsible for the strategic management and development of all members’ practices, overseeing work allocation, business development initiatives, client relationship management, fee negotiation and practice growth. He also plays a key role in Chambers’ strategic planning and marketing activities, helping to ensure that 5RB remains at the forefront of media, communications, and information law.

With extensive experience across all of Chambers’ specialist practice areas, Andrew is often the first point of contact for clients seeking advice on the most suitable counsel for a matter, availability, fee structures or broader strategic considerations. Known for his practical, responsive and commercial approach, he is always happy to discuss prospective instructions, urgent matters or any issue relating to Chambers and its members.

Interests Outside Of Work

Away from Chambers, Andrew spends much of his time attempting to maintain order amongst his two daughters and beloved Chocolate Labrador, with varying degrees of success on both fronts.

His interests include watching cricket (of any standard), cooking, discovering new places to eat, and acquiring an ever-growing collection of leadership and self-development books that he occasionally finds time to read. He is also a passionate advocate of continuous personal and professional development and has a longstanding interest in leadership, communication, and team performance.
