5RB and members shortlisted in Legal 500 Bar Awards 2022

5RB is strongly represented in Legal 500’s forthcoming Bar Awards 2022 in the Media and Arts and Technology and Data categories.

5RB is shortlisted for Media and the Arts set of the year and for Technology and Data set of the year. This follows another very high profile year for 5RB in which its members appeared in numerous notable actions including the ‘Wagatha Christie’ libel claim (Vardy v Rooney), ZXC v Bloomberg, the Duchess of Sussex’s privacy and copyright claim, and the litigation concerning the ‘Putin’s People’ book.

Desmond Browne CBE QC is shortlisted for Media and the Arts silk of the year.

David Sherborne and Clara Hamer are shortlisted in the Media and the Arts junior of the year category. David’s work this year included appearing for Coleen Rooney in her defence of the libel claim brought against her by Rebekah Vardy. Clara’s highlights included appearing as junior for Bloomberg in ZXC v Bloomberg in the Supreme Court.

In the Technology and Data junior of the year category 5RB‘s Jonathan Scherbel-Ball is shortlisted.  Jonathan is widely recognised as a go-to junior in data law and related fields.  He was, for example, junior counsel for Google in the first right to be forgotten case to be determined substantively by a UK Court, and instructed by the National Crime Agency in a leading case on data sharing in an employment context.

We are proud of this latest recognition for the set and for Desmond, David, Clara and Jonathan.
