Mr Reid has today received an apology in court from the owners of the Kent Online website following an article published on 16 October 2017 entitled “Katie Price’s phone hacked from Sittingbourne”. The article reported on concerns expressed on Twitter by Mr Reid’s ex-wife, Katie Price, the famous ex-glamour model, about a recent attempt to hack her mobile phone.
Mr Reid sued Kent Online for defamation and today the website has publicly apologised to him for the distress and damage caused by the article, acknowledging that it could have been understood by readers to mean that he was the person responsible for attempting to hack his ex-wife’s phone.
Kent Online accepted this impression would have been entirely false. There were no grounds whatsoever for believing he had attempted to hack Ms Price’s phone. Kent Online has also agreed to pay Mr Reid costs and damages.
