Jurisdiction hearing in Andrew Neil v Jennifer Arcuri

Permission to serve out libel claim granted

Broadcaster and journalist Andrew Neil was granted permission by Master Dagnall to serve out his libel claim on Jennifer Arcuri in the United States. Mr Neil is suing Ms Arcuri for libel over tweets she posted relating to Jeffrey Epstein’s ‘little black book’.

Ms Arcuri became well known in 2019 over her personal and business relationship with Prime Minister Boris Johnson. She currently lives in the United States.

In a judgment given this afternoon, the Court found the claim had a real prospect of success and ruled that the threshold under section 9 of the Defamation Act 2013, that England and Wales was clearly the most appropriate place to bring an action in respect of the statements, was met.

Reports in the Evening Standard, Independent, Press Gazette and Law360.

5RB’s Ben Hamer acts for Mr Neil, instructed by Russells.
