New Gatley published

Gatley 13th edition now available

The latest edition of the leading defamation textbook Gatley on Libel and Slander was published on 27 May.

The book offers comprehensive, up to date, coverage of English law on the topic. It features new chapters on serious harm and the defences under the Defamation Act 2013 as well as the related areas of misuse of private information and data protection. It also takes in developments in other common law jurisdictions.

Libel law appears to be of greater interest currently than might otherwise be the case in the light of the “Wagatha Christie” (Vardy v Rooney) trial, round two of Depp v Heard in Virginia, and ongoing Parliamentary enquiries into SLAPPs.

Specialists and non-specialists who wish to acquaint themselves with the law need look no further.

Godwin Busuttil of 5RB and former member HH Richard Parkes QC are the General Editors of the 13th edition, while Tom Blackburn SC and Luke Browne of chambers are among the other Editors.
