Profile

Jacob is a media, information and sports law specialist.

In the media and information field he provides advice and representation to both claimants and defendants in defamation, malicious falsehood, misuse of private information, breach of confidence, data protection, freedom of information and media related harassment. He advises pre-publication, and provides representation throughout the litigation process, from interim injunction proceedings to trial and appeal.

His defendant clients have included national and local newspaper groups and television channels, book and magazine publishers, film, television and theatre production companies, and public authorities including several major police forces.

His claimant clients have included doctors, vets, solicitors, barristers, politicians (local and national), trade union and religious leaders and individuals from the worlds of sport (players, managers and owners), entertainment (film and television actors, musicians and models), finance, advertising and business.

In the field of sports law and professional discipline he represents both sporting and disciplinary bodies and the participants and professionals subject to the jurisdiction of such bodies. He has provided advice and representation in relation to disciplinary and licensing matters, internal appeals and challenges to the decisions of professional bodies in Court.
